About
Undergraduated in Journalism, at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1987), Master's Degree in Communications at the University of Brasília (1991), and PhD in Communications and Semiotics at Catholic University of São Paulo (1998). I teach Semiotics and Aesthetics of Communications at the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil, since 1991. My main researching interests are in Semiotics and Philosophy of Language, Aesthetics and Sciences of Art. Presently, I conduct a collective inquiry on the semiotical foundations of visual discourse in photojournalism. I'm also interested in the applications of such an inquiry on the field of visual narratives, specially in connections with comics and graphic novels.
